A) Update on the status of the letter sent by the Commission to the Board of Supervisors urging them to hold hearings about animal welfare issues at the San Francisco Zoo.

A) Update on progress in identifying recommendations for changes in funding guidelines at the Arts Commission to ensure City money is not used to create, produce, or display media in which animal cruelty is committed during the making of the media. This is an outgrowth of previous discussions about a possible Humanitarian Art Ordinance. [Discussion only]

A) Update on status of coyotes in San Francisco, including what Animal Care and Control is doing to minimize coyote-human interactions. [Discussion only]

B) July 2008 meeting included a request by a Commissioner to calendar an agenda item on “no-kill” policies in San Francisco. “No kill” means that no healthy dog or cat is euthanized in a shelter. The Commissioner who requested the calendared item is no longer on the Commission. Discussion of whether another Commissioner wishes to take on the subject and possible approaches to the subject. There is accessible parking at the following locations: two (2) designated blue curb spaces on the southwest corner of McAllister Street at Van Ness Avenue; the Performing Arts Garage (entrance on Grove Street between Franklin and Gough Streets), and at Civic Center Plaza Garage.
