REQUEST TO SPEAK ON ANY MATTER WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

Barbara Lynn appealed to the Commission to give diligent consideration to the appellants because there are so many inequities.

Julian Hill, Officers for Justice stated that the Officers for Justice would like to embrace those nine individuals who filed an appeal but would also like to include the remaining individuals on the 1998
Q – 35 list.  When you look at the Q – 35 list from 1998, if the Civil Service Commission fails to grant the appeal, the Civil Service Commission will, in his opinion be discriminating against senior members in the Police Department.

Valerie Matthews stated that it appears the Department, through the Department of Human Resources wants to get rid of the Inspectors rank.  There are people in the Department who have always known that they wanted to be an Inspector, so they worked at that, and developed the expertise as an Inspector.

Liam Frost spoke in favor of the appellants.

COMMISSIONERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS/REQUESTS

Commissioner Wu requested that the Rules on the Civil Service Commission website include the revision date.
