Reconsideration of Salary and Benefits of Elected Officials of the City & County of San Francisco for Fiscal Year 2004 – 2005 in accordance with Charter Section A8.409-1.

|
|
May 17, 2004:
|
- No increase in salary for elected officials (excluding Member, Board of Supervisors). (Vote of 4 to 1; President Gorrono dissents.)
- Benefits for elected officials (including Member, Board of Supervisors) equal to benefits of Municipal Executives Associations (MEA) covered employee effective July 1, 2004. (Vote of 4 to 1; President Gorrono dissents.)
- Forward to the Mayor’s Office for inclusion in the Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Budget being transmitted to the Board of Supervisors. (Vote of 5 to 0)

Action:
|
1) Amend its action of May 17, 2004, to increase the salary of elected officials (excluding Member, Board of Supervisors) 1.8% effective July 1, 2004. (Vote of 5 to 0)
2) This action is solely for the purpose of maintaining the pension benefits of elected officials at a rate which provides some degree of parity with other City employees. The Commission urges the elected officials to voluntarily return the 1.8% increase to the General Fund. (Vote of 4 to 1; Commissioner Gorrono dissents.)
3) Waive the Attorney/Client privilege and disclose the outside counsel opinion regarding Section A8.409-1 of the Charter of the City & County of San Francisco issued on May 1, 2002 by Liebert Cassidy Whitmore. (Vote 5 to 0)
