REQUEST TO SPEAK ON ANY MATTER WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION  (Item No. 12)

 

Frank Kelly, Fire Fighters Local 798 spoke of their discussions with the department regarding the use of seniority in the promotional process.  He indicated the proposal was denied; the reason given is it would be inconsistent with merit system principles.  He also suggested that the use of secondary criteria be more transparent and closely monitored.

 

COMMISSIONERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS/REQUESTS  (Item No. 13)

 

  • Human Resources Director Micki Callahan reported that the Government Audit and Oversight Committee of the Board of Supervisors approved the contract for the police testing facility.  It goes to the full Board tomorrow and the Budget Analyst’s recommendation stated the facility will greatly improve public safety testing.
  • Commissioner Wu requested an update on the report on policies and procedures governing the timelines for hearing appeals after they are received.
  • Commissioner Gorrono inquired about a proclamation for Commissioner Ng.
