PUBLIC COMMENT ON MATTERS APPEARING ON THE AGENDA

 

 

 

Kevin Hughes, IBEW Local 6 spoke on Item #6.  He stated that more information than the reduction in the number of provisional appointments is necessary to determine if Position-Based Testing is expediting the hiring process.

 

Criss Romero, IFPTE Local 21 spoke on Citywide layoff procedures, specifically at the Department of Elections and appointments in violation of Civil Service Commission Rule 113.1.2.

Cancel any current examination and eligibility status.  Future employment subject to the review and approval of the Human Resources Director after satisfactory completion of two (2) years work experience outside the City and County service.  Must participate in an appropriate substance abuse program and receive a release to work from a DHR-designated professional in substance abuse.  (Vote of 3 to 0)  Mr. Jew failed to appear.

 

REQUEST TO SPEAK ON ANY MATTER WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION  (Item No. 13)

 

Criss Romero, IFPTE Local 21 spoke on the issue of layoffs at the Department of Elections and requested an audit of the hiring and selection procedures at the Department of Elections.

 

COMMISSIONERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS/REQUESTS

 

(1)      Commissioner Wu Sheridan requested a response from the Union on the appeal of Eric Deggendorfer (Item #11).

(2)      President Casper requested that the Public Utilities Commission examine the applicability of Coleman v. Department of Personnel Administration (1991) 52 Cal.3d 1102, 278 Cal.Rptr. 346; 805 P.2d 300 to the Deggendorfer appeal.
