REQUEST TO SPEAK ON ANY MATTER WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

 

Kevin Hughes, IBEW Local 6 spoke on the earlier approval of PSC #4073-07/08.  He stated that, although the department said there are no qualified personnel in the City, there are civil service classifications that meet the qualifications for the scope of work outlined in the contract.  An Electronic Maintenance Technician (Job Code 7318) has performed corrosion prevention maintenance at the Water Department for ten years.

 

The Commission voted to rescind the vote on PSC 4073-07/08 and directed the Executive Officer to calendar the item for reconsideration at the meeting of January 22, 2008.  (Vote of 4 to 0)

 

COMMISSIONERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS/REQUESTS

 

Vice President Casper requested a status report on the appeals of the Q-35, Q-50, 0380 classification matters.

 

The Deputy City Attorney stated that the Opinion regarding the available remedies within the jurisdiction of the Commission in cases of discrimination will be ready for the meeting of February 4, 2008.

 

Commissioner Gorrono requested that eligible lists and promotions for the Police and Fire Departments, as well as all other departments be made available to the Commissioners.

 

Vice President Casper also requested information be gathered on whether the personnel working at the Law Library are civil service employees and what the relationship is between the City and the Law Library.  The Deputy City Attorney will look into the matter and report to the Commission.
