A.     Executive Director's Report                                      Executive Director Murase              Explanatory document: The Executive Director’s Report discusses the work of the Department based on the Commission’s Strategic Plan which reflects the principles of the U.N. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

 All matters listed hereunder constitute a Consent Agenda and are considered to be routine by the Commission on the Status of Women.  They will be acted upon by a single roll call vote of the Commission.  There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a member of the Commission so requests, in which event the matter shall be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as a separate item.  Members of the public may speak on each item listed on the Consent Agenda.

V.           OLD BUSINESS                                                                     DISCUSSION

 

A.     Election of Officers                                                     President Andrea Shorter                  10  min.

The Commission will elected a President and Vice President for FY10-11 for a one-year term beginning July 1,

2010. Commissioner Kay Gulbengay and Commissioner Julie Soo have been nominated for President and Vice

President, respectively.

Action: To elect Kay Gulbengay as President of the Commission for FY10-11.

Action: To elect Julie Soo as Vice President of the Commission for FY10-11.

 

B.     Violence Against Women Prevention and Intervention Program (VAW) Update                25 min.

Grants Administrator Carol Sacco will provide an update on the VAW Grants for FY 2010-2011.

C.     Friends of the Commission Update                                                                                       15 min.

Marily Mondejar, President of the Friends of the Commission, will provide an update on the Friends.  Paula March, fundraising consultant, will give an update on the October 18 CEDAW Luncheon.

This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for Commission’s future consideration.
