III. Red Zone Summit Update

Gena provided an update on the Red Zone Summit set for Sept. 8, 1-5 pm at UCSF Parnassus.  Currently, there are 53 attendees registered with room for about twice as many.  Another announcement will be circulated to encourage registration.  Efforts are underway to secure a keynote speaker.

IV. Prevention Survey Update

The Prevention Survey has been completed.  The majority of institutions completed it.  Rachael Cairati is gathering the data from SFSU and will be analyzing it to share with the group.

V.  Next Steps on Report and Recommendations

The group discussed the status of the SART Information Booklet and reviewed the design changes.  It was suggested that referring to the DNA Bill of Rights might be helpful.  Additionally, it was suggested that including more information about confidentiality and covering issues related to retaliation and use of social media would be of interest to survivors.  Stacey is interested in receiving information on additional resources to be included in the brochure so please share those as you think of them.  Suggestions for additional resources included resources related to immigration and services available in multiple languages.

With respect to form 2-923, the group discussed the need to change its prior recommendation that supported automatic sharing of the form given that the form is part of the forensic evidence collection process and is used by law enforcement as part of its investigation.  Instead, efforts are underway to identify specific information that may be made available on a separate form so that a survivor and that survivor’s attorney may have information that would be helpful in obtaining, for example, a civil restraining order.

Recommendations from the recently released Know Your IX State Playbook were discussed.  Julia will take those recommendations that are relevant to the Task Force’s work and turn them into recommendations for the Task Force’s consideration at the next meeting.

VIII. Public Comment

During the public comment section of the meeting, members answered questions from the Kosovo delegation regarding how San Francisco handles sexual assault matters.
