All matters listed hereunder constitute a Consent Agenda and are considered to be routine by the Commission on the Status of Women.  They will be acted upon by a single roll call vote of the Commission.  There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a member of the Commission so requests, in which event the matter shall be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as a separate item.  Members of the public may speak on each item listed on the Consent Agenda.

      Action:  To approve the Consent Agenda.

 

A.     Black History Month, Res. 2006-001: Resolution recognizing February as Black History Month.

 

B.     UCSF Conference on Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking in the 21st Century, Res. 2006-002:  Resolution recognizing the leadership of Conference Chair Roselyne Swig, Founder of Partners Ending Domestic Abuse.

           

VI. NEW BUSINESS                                     DISCUSSION/ACTION           

 

A.  Police Department Videos                   President Shorter              10 min.                 

The Commission will discuss the components of its investigation into the controversial videos produced by a member of the San Francisco Police Department.

 

B.  Budget                                                      President Shorter          10 min.

      The Commission will review the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

       Action: To approve the budget for Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

 

C.  Sexual Assault Services/Education RFP Commissioner Munter     10 min.

The Commission will discuss the recommendations of the Funding Committee regarding the Sexual Assault Service & Education Grant Awards, totaling $325,000 over the next 18-months (January 2006-July 2007) for three program areas: 24-hour crisis line, intervention advocacy services, and prevention and education training.

  Action: To approve the recommendations of the Funding Committee for the Sexual Assault Service & Education grant awards.

 

D.  49ers Diversity Plan                                 President Shorter                        10 min.

The Commission will discuss the draft diversity plan created by the San Francisco 49ers in response to controversial videos produced by staff in June 2005.

 

E.   Friends of the Commission                      Vice President Williams              10 min.

Vice President Williams will report on recent efforts to bolster the work of the Friends of the Commission on the Status of Women.

 

F.   Sexual Healing Workshop                                    President Shorter           5 min.

The Commission will discuss extending its support for the March 2, 2006 City College ’s Healing for Change’s Sexual Healing Workshop, which is self-healing workshop for female survivors of violence and trauma.

Action:  To support the Sexual Healing Workshop.

  This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for Commission’s future consideration.

Translation into languages other than English is also available with 48-hour notice. Limited accessible street parking available.  Accessible MUNI Metro station in the Van Ness Station and lines are J, K, L, M and N.  Accessible MUNI Lines are the 6, 7, 9, 42, 47, 49, and 71 lines.   Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available.  Meeting proceedings available in alternative formats.  In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.  To obtain a disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meeting, please contact the Department on the Status of Women at least two business days before the meeting at 415-252-2570 (Voice) or 415-252-2550 (TTD).  The Board of Supervisors has amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding provision 67A.1.  The provision is effective as of January 21, 2001.
