Project Information

***The Golden State Warriors (GSW) acquired from Salesforce.com Inc.; 12 acres of vacant property, located within the Mission Bay South Redevelopment Plan (MBSRP).***

In 2012, San Francisco began actively working with the Golden State Warriors to develop a world-class, state-of-the-art sports and entertainment pavilion.  In addition to the creation of an estimate1,000+ permanent jobs and 2,000+ temporary/construction jobs, the new pavilion will generate hundreds of millions of dollars in new economic growth and activity for the City and help accelerate development an area of Mission Bay that has been dormant for decades.

Approximately 200 games and events will be held annually at the pavilion, which will bring people to San Francisco from all over the region, and the money spent will benefit local businesses.  The arena project is currently estimated to generate tens of millions in one-time revenue; as well as millions in annual revenue for San Francisco.

The Mission Bay location has a robust parking and public transportation access, including nearby access to Caltrain, Muni, and the AT&T Park ferry terminal, operated by WETA. In the near future, improvements to the Muni 22 line, Central Subway, and the Transbay terminal will add to the transit capacity. The Muni 22 line is scheduled to provide direct rapid transit access from 16th Street in the Mission directly to the pavilion at 16th Street and 3rd Street. In 2019, Central Subway will open and provide a direct link from Powell Street Station to Mission Bay and will stop one block from the arena. In addition, the Caltrain Modernization Program, also scheduled to be operational in 2019, will significantly upgrade the performance and frequency of Caltrain's commuter rail service.

The Golden State Warriors arena plans to open in time for the 2018-2019 basketball season.
