About the Manager
Donna Levitt was hired to lead the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement in 2002, bringing over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Ms. Levitt was among a group of pioneering tradeswomen when she began her carpenter apprenticeship in 1980. She worked in the trade for over ten years as a carpenter, superintendent, and estimator. Ms Levitt was also a widely respected union representative, the only woman to head a major construction local in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America. She has served on the California Building Standards Commission, the San Francisco Landmarks Preservation Advisory Commission, and the executive board of the San Francisco Labor Council.
Ms. Levitt is proud to serve under Mayor Edwin Lee as the OLSE implements numerous groundbreaking municipal labor laws including minimum wage, paid sick leave, and an employer mandate for health care benefits. She is committed to ensuring that all of San Francisco's workers have the benefits and protections of the city's labor laws, and that the office serves as a resource for businesses that need information or assistance in order to comply.
