Crimes on Muni
SAN FRANCISCO MUNICIPAL TRANSPORTATION AGENCY
This measure shows the rate of crimes related to Muni for every 100,000 miles of Muni service. Its purpose is to improve security throughout the Muni system by identifying criminal activity and applying data-driven police deployment to high-crime Muni lines, with targeted enforcement where it is most needed. It is a key performance indicator for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA)’s strategic objective to improve security for transportation system users.

How Performance is Measured
This measures includes crimes reported to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). Beginning in January 2013, this metric expanded expanded the definition of Muni-related incidents to include those that occurred off Muni vehicles. Reported results are subject to change as data quality improves or new data become available.
The number displayed on the scorecard page represents a fiscal year average of the values in the chart above.
