1.0    CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Karen Chung called the Monday, November 25, 2013 meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Ms. Carla Vaughn, Commission Secretary read the Mission Statement.

 

2.0    ROLL CALL AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUNSHINE AUDIO RECORDING POLICY

Ms. Carla Vaughn, Commission Secretary called roll at 6:01 p.m.

Commissioners Absent:  Bobbrie Brown
Commissioners Excused:  Brigette R. LeBlanc/ Eddy Zheng

Staff Present: Francis Starr, Senior Management Assistant/ Carla Vaughn, Commission Executive Secretary II/ John Roddy, Deputy City Attorney

 

3.0    CONSENT CALENDAR

Ms. Carla Vaughn, Commission Secretary read the Consent Calendar.

3.1    PROPOSED ACTION

Commissioner Al Norman moved to approve the Thursday, November 14, 2013 Commission meeting minutes.

Commissioner LaVaughn K. King seconded the motion to approve the November 14, 2013 Commission meeting minutes.

The minutes of the Southeast Community Facility Commission meeting of Thursday, November 14, 2013 were approved as submitted.

 

4.0    PUBLIC COMMENT IS LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES

None.

 

5.0    COMMUNICATION

announced the communication, correspondence and announcement files:

5.1    CORRESPONDENCE

Carla Vaughn, Commission Secretary announced the following on-going correspondence:

Letter of Invitation to FoodsCo to present an update on the services provided to the Southeast community.

Letter to Supervisor Malia Cohen requesting the inclusion of the Southeast Community Facility Commission in outreach to the community.

 

6.0    ANNOUNCEMENTS

-The next meeting of the Southeast Community Facility Commission will be Thursday, December 12, 2013. 
-Residents of 94124 receive FREE vaccines for your dog every 2nd Saturday of every month through December 2013.
-Residents of 94124 can enter SPCA drawing to win a share of $6,500 in prizes.

Chairperson Karen Chung announced donations for the food barrel were still being accepted.

8.0    NEW/ONGOING BUSINESS (Discussion & Action)

Chairperson Chung announced the Commission would move forward in the decision to create an Outreach & Diversity Advisory Committee.

Commissioner Norman provided a motion to create an Outreach & Diversity Advisory Committee.

Commissioner Greer provided a second to the motion to create an Outreach & Diversity Advisory Committee.

Chairperson Chung called for a vote and the motion to create an Outreach & Diversity Advisory Committee was passed with no opposition.  Commissioner Chung announced Item 8.0 b) the appointment of Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs.

Commissioner Greer suggested the item be held until all Commissioners were present.

Chairperson Chung advised she had conversations with the absent Commissioners and they were informed as to which Committees they were assigned.

Deputy City Attorney John Roddy said the community members of the various Committees should be chosen.

Chairperson Chung advised the community members for the various Committees would be chosen by the Committee Chairs.

 

9.0    STAFF/DIRECTOR REPORT (Discussion)

Francis Starr, Senior Management Assistant reported security cameras have been installed and the network cable work is on-going.  No firm move in date has been provided.

9.1    SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION STAFF REPORT & UPDATE

None.

 

10.0    NEW BUSINESS REQUESTS for Future Agenda Items
 
Commissioner Greer requested information on how to include mental health advocacy in the plans for future Health Fairs.

Carla Vaughn, Commission Secretary suggested she attend the next Health, Housing and Public Safety Committee meeting once the meeting dates are provided.

 

11.0    PUBLIC COMMENT

John Chung, community member commented regarding the bad acoustic system and said he hoped it would be corrected.  He recommended investing in a better system.

Francis Starr, Senior Management Assistant responded other systems were being evaluated and the hope is the system will be corrected during the remodeling efforts.

Commissioner King expressed concern regarding the number of committees and wondered if some of the committees could merge.

Commissioner Norman agreed and said it was a good suggestion.

Chairperson Chung suggested moving forward as planned until further notice.

Carla Vaughn, Commission Secretary advised the upcoming retreat would provide a forum to discuss all of these suggestions and she reminded the Commissioners that the Outreach and Diversity Advisory Committee had been dissolved at the last retreat and was now reestablished. 

 
12.0    ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Chung thanked everyone for their attendance and wished all a Happy Thanksgiving.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
