Introductions
· California Apartment Association is a non-profit representing building owners.
· Works with building owners on how to run a property ethically. Operational advice. Attorneys available, member newsletter, code enforcement outreach officer, city-wide recycle newsletter. Mediate between code enforcement and tenant groups. Annual member fees.
Distribution, collection and analysis of healthy homes surveys
· Healthy Homes Training went well. Audience enthusiastic and public health nurses and property owners expressed need for their peers to receive similar training.
· Only an intro to IPM and toxic products. Request a more advanced training in future? Want training to be more precautionary.
Linkages with other groups addressing toxic use reduction policies
· Dudly House/Hamilton House. Shelter with different degrees of occupancy. Contacted Dept of Env. Bi-monthly meetings for residents. Want safe cleaning workshop in Spanish. Non-profit contacted by human services. Cynthia will suggest they follow city’s EPP list. Potentially do IPM at Dudley or Julane House? Contact Human Services to see if pilot all residential locations. Purchasing consortium. –POLICY?
