VOTING SYSTEMS TASK FORCE
MINUTES
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. City Hall, Room 370 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room San Francisco, California
1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Task Force Chair Jody Sanford at 4:42 p.m.

2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES By motion of Mr. Soper, seconded by Mr. Yee, the minutes of the October 7, 2009 meeting were approved as written.
3. DISCUSSION OF OUTREACH TO CALIFORNIA SECRETARY OF STATE Ms Sanford contacted the Secretary but has not heard back. Mr. Yee spoke with Deputy Secretary of State for Voting Systems Lowell Finley. Mr. Finley is available for consultation every Friday in Berkeley and will meet with him there along with Mr. Donaldson, Mr. Soper.
4. DISCUSSION OF WORK BREAKDOWN STRATEGY Mr. Miller reported on meeting he attended in Los Angeles as part of a 6-year LA County project to overhaul the election process. Discussion ensued re how to dovetail task force’s work and project and Voting Systems Assessment Project (VSAP). Task force also wants to establish collaboration between itself and LA.
5. FUTURE TASK FORCE AGENDA ITEMS a. Update on collaborative opportunity with LA County VSAP b. Continuation of task force breakdown in light of new information re LA project c. Report back on discussions with Secretary of State
6. ADJOURNMENT
