ALIOTO ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR TEN YEAR PLAN IMPLEMENTATION COUNCIL

Former Board of Supervisors President Angela Alioto announced today that the San Francisco Ten Year Plan Implementation Council will hold public hearings regarding San Francisco's progress in ending chronic homelessness.

The hearings will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 in the Board of Supervisors' Chamber in City Hall Room 250, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Members of the public, including business and community leaders, housing and health care providers, and the homeless are all invited to present their thoughts and ideas on ending homelessness to the San Francisco Ten Year Plan Implementation Council.

The Ten Year Plan Implementation Council -- a group of San Francisco citizens appointed by Mayor Newsom to monitor San Francisco's progress on homelessness -- includes former Aging and Adult Services Commissioner Mike DeNunzio (Bridgeway Communications), Kristie Fairchild (North Beach Citizens), Jennifer Friedenbach (Coalition on Homelessness), Ed Jew (San Franciscans for Fair Rate Increases), Susan Lange (S.F. Child Welfare Redesign), Dr. Robert Okin (UCSF/SFGH), former Police Commission President Connie Perry, Professor Robert Terrell (Cal. State East Bay) and George Wesolek (S.F. Archdiocese). The Council members will be present to listen and comment on the testimony presented at the hearing.
