Our Sympathies  October 25, 2009

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department extends its sympathies to the family and friends of Lawrence Halprin, renowned landscape architect, who passed away on October 25.  Mr. Halprin's work includes some of the Bay Area's most popular urban spaces, including Ghiradelli Square (1968), Embarcadero Center public spaces (1972) and UC Berkeley's Sproul Plaza (1960).  Halprin also designed the renovated Stern Grove in 2005 and collaborated with sculptor Armand Vaillancourt on the Vaillancourt Fountain at Justin Herman Plaza.
