3.   NEW Business

 

  1. War Memorial Veterans Building ReOpening Ceremonies.   Discussion of several separate Ceremonial Events (i.e. Official City Event planned for 3rd week in September) and a “Veterans Event” planned and run by former VAC President Eddie Ramirez. (on 10/28/15). Full Discussion with potential presentation of 10/28 Event by Mr. Ramirez.  Potential Action Item for Endorsement and Participation by SFVAC, in specific Events, as described/discussed. 

 

  1. Definitions and Implications of Commission “Endorsement” and/or “Support”
    Potential Action Item
    to include appointment of Study Team to develop modifications to VAC Bylaws.

 

  1. RELOCATION of Veterans Day Parade to Fisherman’s Wharf Area.  (Action Item)
    Commission to consider Adoption of Resolution in Support.

     

  2. SERVICES GUIDE for Bay Area Veterans:
    Discussion and Consideration: Shall the SFVAC Sponsor, and have input into development?

 

4.   OLD Business

  1. Re-establishment of Communications with Office of the Mayor.  V.P. Maffei to report on efforts to re-establish communication link between SFVAC and Office of the Mayor.
     
  2. Research Team on Restorative Justice for Port Chicago Sailors.  Update Report by team leader Comm. A. Jenkins, to include report on unanimous 7/14/15 adoption of S.F. Board of Supervisors Resolution on subject.

     

  3. VAC Research Team Report on Veterans Mental Health .  Comm. D. Guy, Team Leader to report.

     

  4. Report on: Veterans Affairs Task Force session, at  83rd Annual U.S. Mayors Conference, in S.F., June 19, 2015.  Pres. Noetzel to report on his attending the Task Force Meeting.

 

5.  Veterans Related LEGISLATION.  Commissioners invited to inform Commission on new or potential Legislation regarding Veterans or Veterans Community.

 

6.  WAR MEMORIAL VETERANS BUILDING  Discussion on issues or events NOT associated with item 3A., above.

 

7.   ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Floor opened for short announcements of veteran related events and/or activities

 

8.  Honors Report and Moment of Silence:

In memory of American Armed Service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in all wars and conflicts, plus the passing of homeless veterans and veterans who died while waiting approval of benefits requests and suicides within the veterans and armed services community,

VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMISSION MEETINGS

General Meetings of the VAC are scheduled for 6:00pm (on) the SECOND TUESDAY of every month, (with rare exception), and are generally held in ROOM 416 in CITY HALL

 

MEETING CONFIRMATION, and Specific Announcement of General Meetings are made via public Posting of MEETING AGENDAS as required by law, some 72 hours prior to scheduled meetings.
