  1. President’s Report; President Stephen Noetzel to report on various issues including (but not limited to),
    >  Current Vacancies on the VAC, Re-Appointments, and recruiting potential applicants.
  2. Vice Presidents Report;  Vice President Michael Maffei to report on various issues.
  3. Secretary’s Report;  Sec’y Dwane Kennedy to report on recent correspondence/communications, etc.

 

3.   NEW Business

  1. Consideration of Request for Support of SFVAC in establishing a Veterans Affairs Commission for City of San Jose, CA.  Guest, Mr. S. Pandey to make presentation, followed by Discussion and POTENTIAL ACTION for SFVAC Support in this initiative. (V.P. Maffei, Lead).
  2. City Hall or Veterans Building?  Discussion and potential establishment of Research Committee to develop recommendation on best meeting location after re-opening of Veterans building (Estimated September, 2015)

 

4.   OLD Business

  1. Progress Report on our February Resolution on Restorative Justice for Port Chicago Fifty.
    Comm. Jenkins, Lead, Comm. Caldera and Noetzel
  2. Current status of BOS Seat #3 of SFVAC (formerly held by Commissioner L. Burnette).  Discussion/update only

 

5.   PROGRESS REPORTS on VAC Goals and Initiatives . Leaders of Study Teams on previously defined Initiatives to Report on Progress.        

       A.    Research Team on Development of Veterans Advocate Position in City Government

To study potential for a Veterans Advocate and/or development of a permanent Administrative position within city government.  (Commissioners Marshall and Maffei , and guest  Mr. S. Pandey,)

 

       B.    Research Team on Potential for Veterans Issues Panel at U.S. Mayors Conference, in S.F., June, 2015.

                Commissioners Maffei and Marshal to report on progress in establishment of said PANEL.

 

       C.    Research Team on Protocols for Equitable Assignment to Veterans Housing  (Commissioners Gallagher & Noetzel)

 

       D.   Committee on Veterans Mental Health Issues to study areas where VAC might provide advice in areas including,

(but  not limited to) Moral Injury, Depression and Suicide, and more. (Commissioners Baldonado, Caldera, Dacumos, Jenkins, Smith & Weeby).

 

6. Veterans Related LEGISLATION.  Commissioners invited to inform Commission on new or potential Legislation regarding Veterans or Veterans Community.

 

7.  WAR MEMORIAL VETERANS BUILDING  (Commissioners invited to present/discuss recent developments in this area)

 

8.   ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Floor opened for short announcements of veteran related events and/or activities

 

9. Honors Report and Moment of Silence:

In memory of American Armed Service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in all wars and conflicts, plus the passing of homeless veterans and veterans who died while waiting approval of benefits requests and suicides within the veterans and armed services community.

General Meetings of the VAC are scheduled for 6:00pm (on) the SECOND TUESDAY of every month, (with rare exception), and are generally held in ROOM 416 in CITY HALL

 

MEETING CONFIRMATION, and Specific Announcement of General Meetings are made via public Posting of MEETING AGENDAS as required by law, some 72 hours prior to scheduled meetings.
