1. Call to Order and Roll Call


The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Wu at 5:01pm. There is quorum.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)


Commissioner Wu, seconded by Commissioner Sicairos moved to approve the agenda for the meeting. The motion was approved by acclamation.

Commissioner Sicairos, seconded by Commissioner Bernick moved to approve the minutes from May 21, 2014. The motion was approved by acclamation.

A. Check-in

The committee members checked in on the last movie they watched.

B. Committee Priority: Update and Next Steps

Commissioner Wu reviewed how the Full Commission passed the committee resolution commending the School District for their disability awareness programs and encouraging them to expand and promote the programs that especially engage youth. The committee then discussed next steps: Commissioners Wu and Bernick will follow up and present to SAC’ers next year; get in touch with Mayor’s Office of Disability to ask for support if SAC presents to BOE, and learn about the city’s programs that help increase disability awareness amongst youth.

C. Committee members research updates

Commissioner Wu shared about her pedestrian safety meeting, Vision Zero, with her Supervisor that talked about two specific sites for improvement. Commissioner Sicairos shared about MOHCD’s housing program for TAY with disabilities.

Staff shared about Chinatown CDC’s work in housing and their youth programs including AAA, YSRO, CATs, and Campaign Academy. These youth work on pedestrian safety issues and on housing, and have collaborated with the YC the past few years on Free MUNI for Youth. The committee thought it would be a great idea to have an offsite meeting and trip to CCDC. Staff will follow up.

6. Staff Report


A. Programmatic updates, review upcoming events

Staff shared updates about the Children with Incarcerated Parents hearing, Summer Learning Day, an upcoming visit from BHNC and Shape Up SF’s Retreat.

7. Items to Report to Executive Committee (Action Item)


Commissioner Sicairos, seconded by Commissioner Wu, motioned to share with the Executive Committee updates and plans discussed today. The motion was approved by acclamation.

8. Executive Committee Report (Discussion Only)


The EC will be sending out emails to committee chairs.

9. Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 6:38pm.
