A. Letter of Support to Board of Supervisors for new Animal Care and Control facility [Discussion/Action Item] [Commissioner Fortier/Commissioner Tobin]

In January, the Capital Planning Committee of the Board of Supervisors met and decided to remove a proposed $54 million ACC facility improvement from a Public Health and Safety Bond scheduled for the June 2016 ballot. Following this, Supervisors Katy Tang and Scott Weiner announced legislation to amend the City’s TenYear Capital Plan to provide financing for a new shelter for ACC. The Commission will submit a letter of support to the Board of Supervisors for the newly proposed Certificates of Participation which will cover the cost of a new shelter and be funded by the City’s General Fund.

B. 2015 Quarterly Report [Discussion/Action Item] [Commissioner Fortier]

The Commission is required to submit quarterly reports to the Board of Supervisors.

Last year, no report was submitted in the second half of the year, so this is a halfyearly report.

C. ACWC webpage Cleanup and Organization [Discussion/Action Item]

[Commissioner Fortier/Commissioner Tobin] In late 2015, the City updated its website.

This update led to the delection of many archived files and problems with weblinks on the resources page. Commissioner Tobin has identified and corrected many of the problems. She will present a review.

D. Letter expressing Opposition to GGNRA, General Management Plan, restricting the allowable space for dogs [Discussion/Action Item][Commissioner Tobin]

In February, Golden Gate National Recreation Area announced proposed rules that would limit the areas in which dogs are allowed onand offleash.

These guidelines are the result of a fifteenyear process during which the GGNRA solicited feedback from park users and officials. The new rules are very restrictive. For example, at Chrissy Field, offleash space has nearly been cut in half. The rules impact Marin GGNRA areas, too. The Commission will draft a letter of opposition to the new rules.

E. Announcement of publication of SF SPCA/ SF ACC Partnership Statistics

[Discussion Item][Commissioner Johnson] Each year, the San Francisco SPCA publishes information regarding their partnership with San Francisco Animal Care and Control.

Recently, the calendar year 2015 (January 1, 2015 December 15, 2015) statistics were published. The Commission will review the data at the April 2016 meeting. Details are available:
