Chair Collins called the meeting to order at 1:06 p.m.

    Chair Collins shared virtual meeting instructions.  
     
    Commission Secretary Ventre announced public comment instructions.

    There was no public comment.  
     
     

  1. Nomination of Candidates 
    (5:09) 
     
    Chair Collins provided an overview of the Nomination process. The Committee confirmed they spoke to all commissioners and selected staff. They discussed broad themes from their conversations which included specific leadership needs in a time of recovery. They talked about the awareness of change among the commissioners, commission priorities, and the request for more commissioner collaboration. They also suggested using the subcommittees better to help with make change. They talked about the benefits of retaining current leadership and the benefits to changing leadership. They discussed the need for the Commission to strengthen their assets and partnerships.  The Committee requested the need to mentor prospects for future commission leadership, to urge to develop a strategic plan and to better utilize commissioners in their role as allies in the agency.  
     
    Commissioner Ferras, seconded by Commissioner Walker moved to approve the motion: Motion to nominate and elect officers of the Arts Commission (President and Vice President) for a term beginning on January 1, 2022. The Nominating Committee approved the slate of Roberto Ordeñana as President and Janine Shiota as Vice President with the contingencies to build stronger partnerships with community and staff, to collaborate with commissioners in a shared vision and to develop a strategic plan. 
     
    There was no public comment. 
     
    Commissioners also acknowledged the names of commissioners that came up for future leadership opportunities which included Commissioners Collins, Shelby, Ordenana, Schnair, Beltran, Shiota, Ferras and Walker.  
     
    The motion unanimously carried by the following vote: 
    Ayes: Collins, Ferras, Walker. 
     
    There was no public comment.

    There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:55 p.m.
