OF THE ARTS COMMISSION

Draft Minutes 

Chair Collins called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m.

  1. Roll Call

    Commissioners Present
    Charles Collins, Chair
    Suzie Ferras
    Mary Jung

    Chair Collins announced virtual meeting instructions.

    Commission Secretary Alyssa Ventre announced public comment instructions.

     
  2. General Public Comment

    There was no public comment.
     
     
  3. Nomination of Candidates
    Chair Collins gave an update on the Nominating Committee process. Commission Secretary Ventre read the Arts Commission bylaws relating to the Nominating Committee.

    Chair Collins noted that there will be a subsequent Nominating Committee meeting to nominate candidates. He explained that their recommendation will then be heard at the December full Commission meeting.

    Commissioners discussed their roles in the Nominating Committee process. Chair Collins recommended that, in addition to interviewing the commissioners, the committee also interview staff members Denise Bradley-Tyson, Joanne Lee, and Rachelle Axel along with Tyra Fennell from the Mayor’s Office.

    Chair Collins also reported that President Ordenana would accept the re-appointment if he was asked to continue his role while Vice President Stryker said she would not like to continue in her role.

    Commissioners continued to discuss the process and Commission Secretary Ventre proposed the next meeting for the week of November 16th.

    Public Comment:
    A member of the public called asking if this item was an appropriate place for a general SFAC question.

    Commission Secretary Ventre recommended that they email art-info@sfgov.org with their question.

    There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:23 p.m.
