President Ordeñana called the meeting to order at 12:35 p.m.

President Ordeñana welcomed Commissioner Walker to her first Executive Committee meeting.
President Ordeñana announced virtual meeting instructions. Commission Secretary Alyssa Ventre announced public comment instructions.

There was no public comment.
- Director’s Report
Acting Director Rebekah Krell gave a budget update. She also reported on status of items requested by commissioners under New Business and Announcements at the July 6 Commission meeting.
President Ordeñana announced the arrival of new commissioner, Yakuh Askew.
Commissioner Beltran joined the meeting at 12:46 p.m.

- Update on the Director of Cultural Affairs search from Valerie Gaeta Phillips, President, Bob Murray & Associates
President Ordeñana introduced Valerie Gaeta Phillips to give an update on the Director of Cultural Affairs search. Ms. Phillips reported that she met with Arts Commission staff to gather input on what they would like to see in an ideal candidate. She gave a high level summary of the input received during the staff session.
Ms. Phillips added that she’s created a list of ad sources. She said she’s already received a few applications and will be adding a supplemental questionnaire to the application.
Ms. Phillips also reported on the outreach process and how equity will help to drive that process. She asked commissioners to provide any potential names of candidates or networks to drive more folks to apply. She explained the draft timeline of the search process and noted that the search process will close on September 1.
President Ordeñana added his summary of the feedback from staff during the listening session.
Commissioner Stryker recommended that all commissioners be asked for their input for candidates and requested clarification on how to provide feedback. President Ordeñana added that Ms. Phillips is also looking for names of prospective candidates and asked commissioners to send any information to Ms. Phillips directly.
Commissioner Collins recommended contacting Pamela Joyner.
Ms. Phillips explained that she’s creating a pdf brochure to circulate to commissioners that will also be on BMA’s website under current searches. She also shared their social media outreach strategy.
President Ordeñana described next steps of the recruitment process.
