Minutes 

President Ordeñana called the meeting to order at 12:40 p.m.

  1. Roll Call

    Commissioners Present

    Roberto Ordeñana, President
    Kimberlee Stryker, Vice President
    JD Beltran
    Charles Collins
    Debra Walker

    President Ordeñana announced virtual meeting instructions.

    Commission Secretary Alyssa Ventre announced public comment instructions.
     
  2. General Public Comment

    There was no public comment.
     
  3. Director’s Report
    Acting Director Rebekah Krell gave an update regarding the proposed budget for FY2020-2021 and FY2021-2022, which was recently presented at the Board of Supervisors Budget and Appropriations Committee.

    Commissioners discussed the 2%-for-art budget, funding for the Arts Impact Endowment and the agency’s capital budget, public art expenditures, personnel attrition and the status of the annual grants convening.

    There was no public comment.
     
  4. New Business and Announcements
    There were no new business and announcements.

  5. Public Employee Appointment – Screening and Review of Candidates for Appointment as Director of Cultural Affairs
    President Ordeñana called for public comment on all matters pertaining to the closed session.
     
    There was no public comment, and the Committee voted to go into closed session, pursuant to Government Code Section 54957 and San Francisco Administrative Code Section 67.10(b), for the screening and review of candidates for appointment as Director of Cultural Affairs.

    The motion unanimously carried by the following vote:
    Ayes: Ordeñana, Stryker, Beltran, Collins, Walker.
     
    Closed Session
    The Committee met in closed session from 1:23 p.m. until 2:14 p.m. Commissioners Ordeñana, Stryker, Beltran, Collins, and Walker were present in the closed session. Acting Director Krell, Commission Secretary Ventre and Valerie Gaeta Phillips, President of Bob Murray & Associates, were also present.
     
    Open Session
    The Committee reconvened in open session at 2:14 p.m., with Commissioners Ordeñana, Stryker, Beltran, Collins, and Walker, and Acting Director Krell, Commission Secretary Ventre and Ms. Phillips in attendance. Pursuant to San Francisco Administrative Code Section 67.12(a), the Committee voted not to report any of the discussions held in closed session.

    There was no public comment.

    The motion unanimously carried by the following vote:
    Ayes: Ordeñana, Stryker, Beltran, Collins, Walker.

    The Committee discussed the selection of dates for special meetings to interview candidates for the Director of Cultural Affairs. The Committee also discussed the next steps relating to the first and second round of candidate interviews.

    The Committee voted on the following dates for the upcoming special meetings: September 17, September 18 and September 22.

    There was no public comment.

    The motion unanimously carried by the following vote:
    Ayes: Ordeñana, Stryker, Beltran, Collins, Walker.

    There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:36 p.m.
