AGENDA

 

 

PRIMARY MEETING FOCUS:  REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FACTORS FOR ASTHMA IN PUBLIC HOUSING

 

Our Work Plan Objective: By June 2006, SFHA will develop and demonstrate quality assurance and remediation protocols, including tenant education, which will be effective in controlling mold hazards at SFHA sites, and the Board of Supervisors will adopt policy recommendations presented by ATF.

Ø      By June 30th, 2006, ATF and DPH will facilitate spending of $49,145 awarded for FY05-06 by BOS to develop and demonstrate a quality assurance and remediation protocol which will be effective in controlling mold hazards at SFHA family development sites. 

Ø      By June 30th, 2006, ATF and DPH will facilitate spending of $1,900 awarded for FY05-06 by BOS to develop and implement a health education outreach campaign for SFHA tenants, emphasizing tools for reducing environmental risk factors for asthma in housing.

Ø      Where appropriate, ATF will bring policy, legislative and funding recommendations for full ATF to submit to Board of Supervisors for FY06-07 fiscal year.

1) Update on BAEH Coalition that Karen is participating in--eg. air quality and land use proposal

 

2) Focus on SFHA Public Housing quality assurance measures once equip and training obtained

 

3) Understand Redevelopment Inventory of Affordable Housing

 

If time permits:

Continued & New Business (carried over from previous meeting)

  • Cal Broomhead, SF Environment Department Presentation review
  • Discuss with Myrna Iton, Mayor’s Office of Housing:  How to make ATF proposal to Matt Franklin more specific eg. ways to encourage weatherization/healthy housing aspects of all MOH-funded projects.
  • Priority target areas & mechanisms for outreach to property owners & tenants
  • Letter from Dr. Katz, DPH went to State Commissioner re. tax credit points for housing developers that create some amount of smoking-free units or common spaces. (Based on request from ATF)
