SFE home cleaners factsheet

ATF paid for reproduction of SFE safe housecleaning factsheet in 3 languages; Cynthia Knowles at SFE in process to order aerosol can factsheet in 3 languages.

Distribution to family resource agencies desired—can obtain safe housecleaning factsheet inventory from either Karen at SFDPH or Cynthia at SFE

Toxic furnishings reduction

CARB passed limits on formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products (4/27/07)

Research how CARB’s formaldehyde regulation could be a model for addressing other furnishings issues

Toxic use reduction for discussion-Occupational health research findings re. cleaners

Karen found contact person at UCB Labor Occupational Health Program—no conversation as yet

Would ATF want to include hotel and office cleaner occupational exposure in our outreach? (same population at risk as housecleaners)

No commitment as yet—consensus was to first model occupational protection for those working with cleaning products where City must purchase cleaning products using new SFE precautionary specification

Healthy Housing legislative proposal

·         Myrna Melgar and Sonia Delgado-Schaumberg, (the new Lead/Rehab mngr), MOH

Outdoor Air Quality Mapping/ Issues re. Land use/air quality conflicts

Review Rajiv Bhatia’s past presentation to ATF-Env Comt., and confirm that Comt. endorses that policy proposal in our grid

Confirmed OK to keep on grid; not a high priority for all as it only affects new housing construction; figure out way to apply same mitigation measures to existing housing in same high risk zone

Karen to discuss expansion to existing housing with Rajiv and Tom Rivard

Schedule Tom to present to December 5th Env. Comt. mtg., particularly on the Chinatown SRO project, and an overview of the air quality mapping project

Equipment Purchasing

$12,000 line item for equipment (anything valued over $5000@)

Itemized for an additional camera purchase, e.g. for MOH or Environ. Health to use; perhaps tie to an incentive program for property owners; also slim possibility that Tom could use for air sampling equip.
