Minutes of SF Bicycle Advisory Committee Meeting, May 11, 2000

1. Review and approval of minutes from Working Committee meeting 4/13/00**

2. Discussion of bylaw amendment to allow change in committee self-governance

(consensus model of decision-making vs. Robert’s Rules of Order)**

3. Discuss means of reopening dialogue with Japantown community: how can the BAC help to build support for bicycle accommodations in this neighborhood? When and how might Post St. bike lane extensions be reintroduced?**

4. Report on contacts with the Port of San Francisco. Discuss inviting Port representative to BAC general meeting

5. Liaison procedures and appointments/assignments. Discuss allotting contacts (for instance, particular members to particular city departments or personnel). Possible assignments of areas of responsibility at this meeting**

6. Bicycle Plan Update. Report on contacts with SFBC and DPT with regard to update focus points

7. Consider endorsement of grant proposals through Dept. of Parking and Traffic staff, proposals submitted under AB434 Transportation Fund for Clean Air, including bicycle parking and projects in the "Smart Growth" category**

8. Formation of BAC Outreach Bureau. Breakdown of contact information for neighborhood associations into groupings for individual members**

9. Update on planning for regional bicycle/alternative transportation conference, including the possibility of joining with the Surface Transportation Policy Project in such a conference

10. Discussion of the possible use of the website of the City of San Francisco for posting BAC records and news

11. Discussion of budget and paid staffing for the BAC. Should the BAC seek financial and staff support? From what sources?**

12. Review of proposed Turk Street bike lanes**
