7.      MTA Bicycle Program Report – See MTA Bicycle Program Report to the BAC for July 2009 (http://www.sfmta.com/cms/cbike/3170.html), including an update on the status of the Bicycle Plan Injunction.  In addition, there is a report on causes of bicycle collision fatalities (http://www.sfmta.com/cms/rbikes/3172.html).

3.      Market Street Redesign – The SF Planning Department, in conjunction with the MTA, is proceeding with changes to Market Street to discourage traffic Eastbound between 8th Street and 5th Street. This is the first of a set of comprehensive changes to change Market Street from a traffic sewer to a beautiful downtown promenade.  MTA will present concepts on the bicycling aspect of changes they are considering.

9.      Bicyclist Required Operator’s License – The MTA Board of Directors discussed the efficacy of requiring a ‘driver’s license’ for cyclists.  MTA will present the objectives of such a program, as well as possible benefits.

10.  Bicycle Program Priorities – In anticipation of the lifting of the SF Bicycle Plan Injunction, The MTA is beginning planning of programs and projects beyond the initial projects approved and ready for construction. The timing is very tight, given that the BAC is expected to submit a priority list for consideration by the advisory committees of the MTA and CTA in October.

11.  MTA Management of Bicycle Lockers – The SFMTA manages bicycle lockers on City Property. There may be indications of under-utilization by some while others are on long waiting lists.
