Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting
December 15, 2005

For January meeting:
LOS Reform on Jan agenda, Casey take the lead.

Attending: Dr. Andy Bindman (1), Lionel Shaw (2), Frank Chan (3), Lisa Estrella (4), Susan King (5), Bert Hill (7), Rufus Davis (10), Casey Allen (11). Missing: Hitesh Sonji (6), Jerry Irvin (8), Francisco Hernandez (9).

Peter Tannen presented the MTA Report;

November 17 Meeting minutes approved.

No public comment offered.

Chairman Report (Bert Hill): Article on Rincon Hill development passed around;

District Representative Reports:

5 (Susan King): GG Park Task force meets with Ross Mirkarimi on Dec. 27 (meeting was moved to Jan 6);
2 (Lionell Shaw): attending last meeting, will be replaced. New bike hut in Marina
11 (Casey) Happy Holidays!
10 (Rufus Davis): Supe Maxwell will be reappointing Rufus, SF Examiner article on Brisbane-Bayshore Blvd bike lane (we still need Daly City segment completed), Talks with DPT to complete North-South corridor.  Studies on Paul to Cezar Chavez ave by Mike Sallabery of the DPT.
3 (Francisco Hernandez): tube Times article on Fisherman's Wharf. Stockton St meeting re bike lanes with 2 camps- Merchants who want sidewalk space for vending and peds who want to walk on sidewalk.
4 (Lisa Estrella): Critical Mass on 12/30.

E 2 Staffing- MTA hiring freeze and end of internship program= less staff. Peter Tannen retiring
B 3 155.1 Planning Code requires bike parking in residential buildings
C 7 Thick paint on pavement on bike learning area near GG Park, redirect skaters elsewhere
D 7 Funding for Monterey Blvd offramp bike lanes. What about other offramps off Bayshore?

Question about closing bike lanes for construction. BIke lane on Geneva near Carter is closed. Temp signage and alterant route are required to be established. Contact developers and urge them to follow construction rules or have permit to close lane revoked.

D 1 Geary Blvd BRT, minimal consideration for bike needs and no consideration for other modes of transit. Do cyclists use Geary (vs. Cabrillo or Lake)?

Bike lane in panhandle is blocked by cyclone fencing with no warning- dangerous situation, contact Rec and Park.

A 4 Broadway bike lanes- 1 each way- do they extend further?
A 6 JFK bike lanes- meeting with Ross, need to contact Concourse Auth and Rec and Parks
A 13 North point st- what are the significant concerns from Muni (re bike lanes)
A 17 Sloat Blvd, what are the next steps for Sloat bike improvements? Ask DPT. MTA or BOS next.
A 18 Market st- education for dooring by Taxis and cars??
A 10 Laguna Honda- dangerous turn for cyclists. steep hill, narrow lane. consider eliminating one parking space for safer passage.
B 2 Bike Racks. Meter removal means less places to secure bikes
B 3 Include Portola Ave for Sharrows
D 4 BTA grant funding projects- Clipper St - very narrow street
D 7 TFCA funding for bik lanes, schedule pending- Yay!
E 1 recommend approval of sharrows

MTA report lacks Liveable streets/ Inner Sunset Project report
Kirkham bike lanes approved, big hills but a lovely ride
7th Ave/inner Sunset traffic calming, long term goal for more bike lanes
ISCOTT approvales- Howard West, Embarcadero to Fremont, Bayshore and Kirkham

Task forces:
Bike Theft (Bert) No report
Bike Plan (Andy B) recruiting professor to help with performance measures
Home Depot (Rufus) All of Bayshore included in plans. Construction drawings in Jan. Working with DPT and sFBC to get accurate traffic counts and other info regarding traffic on Bayshore, surveys have been commissioned.
Mills Corp (Frank)- No report, controversial plan may be dropped
GG Park (Susan). meeting with Ross planned
