At its December 15, 2010 meeting at 5:00pm, the Board of Appeals will consider amendments to the Rules of the Board of Appeals. These Rules govern the Board’s hearing procedures, appeals processes and the duties and election of officers.

The proposed amendments to the Rules will concern but may not be limited to the following substantive subject areas: the order of the parties' oral presentation at Board meetings; briefing requirements and scheduling; communication with Board members; site visit requirements; the process for requesting that matters be continued or rescheduled; standards for granting jurisdiction requests and the timeframe within which related appeals may be filed; and standards of review for indigency waiver requests. In addition, there are non-substantive technical and wording changes proposed.

Copies of the text of the proposed amendments will be available at least 72 hours in advance of the hearing on the Board's website (www.sfgov.org/boa) and at the Board office located at 1650 Mission Street, Suite 304, and will be available at the December 15, 2010 hearing. The current Rules of the Board of Appeals (effective July 9, 2008) are posted on the Board’s website (click on the link entitled “Appeal Process Overview”) and are available at the Board office.

Members of the public will have an opportunity during the December 15th hearing to comment on the proposed rules. Members of the public may also submit written comments at the hearing or preferably in advance of the hearing. Advance written comments may be mailed to the Board office or emailed to cynthia.goldstein@sfgov.org.
