A) Introduction of new

A) Continuation of discussion and possible action to recommend to
the Board of Supervisors that they pass an ordinance prohibiting the
sale or transfer of dogs, cats, and possibly other small animals
(including hamsters, rats, mice, guinea pigs, and chinchillas) and
birds in companion animal (pet) stores. An exemption for animals from
shelters or rescue groups would be allowed. This ordinance is intended
to stop the sale of dogs, cats and other animals from puppy mills and
other breeding mills, as well as to decrease euthanasia rates of small
animals in city shelters. A coalition of local pet store owners,
breeders, and other concerned citizens has been invited to speak about

Disability Access: Room 408 is wheelchair accessible. The

southwest corner of McAllister Street at Van Ness Avenue; the Performing
