Resolution authorizing the Executive Director of the Commission to negotiate and execute a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Aging and Adult Services on the transfer of responsibility to administer state grants for Naturalization and Citizenship Education.
WHEREAS, The Department of Aging and Adult Services has been administering State funds for Naturalization and Citizenship Education for the City and County of San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, Darrick Lam, the Acting Director of the Department of Aging and Adult Services, has approached Dang Pham, the Executive Director of the Commission, to discuss the possibility of transferring the duty of administering the State funds for Naturalization and Citizenship Education; and,
WHEREAS, The transfer of responsibility is pending the approval of California Department of Community Services and Development, the State agency providing the funding; and,
WHEREAS, The Commission desires to administer programs that directly effect the immigrant populations in the City; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Commission hereby authorizes the Executive Director to negotiate and enter into with the Department of Aging and Adult Service a memorandum of understanding transferring the responsibility of administering State funds for Naturalization and Citizenship Education.
