1) The Special Meeting convened at 8:40 a.m.

Commissioner Adrienne Pon presided.
2) Public Comments on matters appearing on the Agenda.
Criss Romero, IFPTE Local 21, introduced himself and was attending on behalf on Local 21.
3) Civil Service Commission Strategic Planning Retreat.
The Commission conducted its strategic planning retreat discussing trends and issues and its impact on the Commission’s mission and future direction. The Commission further provided guidance and instructions on programs and policies to staff.
4) Public comment on matters within the jurisdiction of the Civil Service Commission.
David Novogrodsky, IFPTE Local 21, thanked the Commission for having an open meeting allowing for input and made the following suggestions at the Commission’s request: 1) look at classifying Special Assistant positions; 2) review its policy of consolidating classes; 3) a more detailed review of personal services contracts by Civil Service Commission staff; 4) explore research component within Civil Service Commission staff; and 5) the need for statisticians particularly in testing and examination in the City. The Commission thanked Mr. Novogrodsky for his participation and input.
