LBE Certification

certified.jpgThe Contact Monitoring Division (CMD) Certification Unit certifies firms that meet the requirements of the San Francisco Administrative Code Chapter 14B.

Certified firms can compete more effectively on City contracts because the LBE Compliance Unit of the Contract Monitoring Division sets requirements on most City contracts and these requirements are met by listing Certified firms only.

Certified firms receive bid discounts or rating bonus points when bidding as the Prime Contractor, and there are certain contracts that are set aside for bidding by Micro certified firms only. To receive these LBE benefits, a firm must be certified at the time of bid or proposal due date.

Certification is not required for bidding on City contracts nor is it required to be an approved Supplier.

CMD offers the following types of Certification:

Local Business Enterprise (“LBE”) Certification: LBE certification is available to businesses with a principal place of business in San Francisco.

PUC Local Business Enterprise (“PUC-LBE”) Certification: PUC-LBE certification is available to licensed contractors, construction materials suppliers, truckers/haulers and some professional service firms with a principal place of business outside of San Francisco but within the SFPUC Water System Service Area. PUC Certification eligibility applies to projects located 70 miles away from San Francisco.

Non-Profit Entity (“NPE”) Certification: NPE certification is available to non-profit entities with a principal place of business in San Francisco.
