All matters listed hereunder constitute a Consent Agenda and are considered to be routine by the Commission on the Status of Women. They will be acted upon by a single roll call vote of the Commission. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a member of the Commission so requests, in which event the matter shall be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as a separate item. a. Resolution Recognizing October as Filipino-American History Month
Action: To approve a resolution recognizing October as Filipino-American Heritage Month.
Action: To approve a letter to City officials recognizing their commitment to domestic violence awareness.
Action: To approve a resolution recognizing the work done by the International Museum of Women.
Action: To approve a resolution recognizing Peggy Coster.
Action: To approve a resolution recognizing California Elected Women’s Association for Education and Research (CEWAER).

a. Testimony Regarding Labor Conditions of Exotic Dancers in San Francisco 30 min.
Representatives from San Francisco’s Club Owners
Representatives will discuss labor conditions in San Francisco exotic dance clubs.
b. Budget Contingency Proposal President Shorter 10 min.
The Commission will discuss the Budget Contingency Plan requested by the Mayor’s Office in the amount of $250,000.00 from the Department’s budget to be implemented over the next 18 months.

The Commission will discuss the Commission Retreat in January 2005 and approve a date and Commission representative to work with the Department to prepare for the retreat.

President Shorter will show a DVD that gives a synopsis of the work being done by the International Museum of
Women.
f. Lack of Protection for Homeless Women Carolyn Ritchie 10 min.
Ms. Ritchie will speak about the lack of protection for women in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels and those who live on the street. Ms. Ritchie will discus providing separate space for women.
g. Visibility of the Commission and the Department on the Status of Women 10 min.
President Shorter & Vice-President Williams
The Commission will discuss ways to improve the visibility of the Commission and the Department.
