They will be acted upon by a single roll call vote of the Commission. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a member of the Commission so requests, in which event the matter shall be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as a separate item. a. Maria Cora, Res. 2005-026: Resolution recognizing the contributions of Maria Cora to the lives of the women and girls of San Francisco in the area of health
b. Letter to the Board of Supervisors in support of the Human Rights Initiative.
c. Letter to the Police Commission regarding sexual harassment.
d. Letter to the United States Attorney regarding combating trafficking.
e. Karen Kai, Res. 2005-027: Resolution recognizing Karen Kai, recipient of the Japanese American Citizens League San Francisco Chapter Kay Okamoto Service Award, who has worked tirelessly to advance grassroots efforts in the Japanese American community.
f. Women’s Equity Day, Res. 2005-028: Resolution recognizing August 26 as Women’s Equality Day.
7. NEW BUSINESS DISCUSSION/ACTION
a. Violence in the Queer Community Representative from CUAV 10 min.
A representative from Community United Against Violence (CUAV) will provide a report on the work of CUAV in combating violence in the queer community.
b. Partnership for Promoting Real Solutions Representatives from Home Base 10 min.
A representative from Home Base and other partners will talk about the work of the Partnership and its impact on the homeless in San Francisco .
c. Women with Disabilities Susan Mizner 10 min.
Susan Mizner, Director of the Mayor’s Office on Disability, will give a brief overview of the challenges and progress for women with disabilities.
d. At the Crossroads Lori Norcia 10 min.
Ms. Norcia will discuss the outreach efforts of her organization to homeless youth.
e. Nomination of Officers for 2005-2006 President Shorter 5 min.
The Commission will nominate Commissioners for the positions of President and Vice President of the Commission. Elections will be held at the August 18, 2005
Action: To nominate a President and Vice President for 2005-2006.
f. Fine Arts Museum Hiring Practices Local 790 Representative 10 min.
A representative from SEIU Local 790 will discuss the hiring practices of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the alleged inadequate ratio of women in non-traditional work.
8. OLD BUSINESS DISCUSSION/ACTION
a. Strategic Plan President Shorter 5 min.
The Commission will discuss the updated Strategic Plan.
Action: To approve the Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2005-2008.
b. Labor Conditions of Exotic Dancers Commissioner Evans 10 min.
The Commission will hear an update on work being done regarding the labor conditions of the exotic dancers.

This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for COSW’s future consideration.
