Explanatory document – The Executive Director’s Report discusses the work of the Department: the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)’s Implementation of Women & Girls Human Rights, Right to Adequate Standard of Living, Right to Bodily Integrity, Right to Adequate Healthcare, and Human Rights of Girls to Education and Social Services principles.

 All matters listed hereunder constitute a Consent Agenda and are considered to be routine by the Commission on the Status of Women.  They will be acted upon by a single roll call vote of the Commission.  There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a member of the Commission so requests, in which event the matter shall be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as a separate item.  Members of the public may speak on each item listed on the Consent Agenda.

Executive Director Murase will present a revised Strategic Plan based on the July 28 Commission Retreat.

B. Heller Ehrman’s Opt-In Project           Patricia Gillette & Anne Mercogliano  15 min.
Explanatory documents – Power Point Presentation on Opt-In Project Results
Patricia Gillette, Co-Chair of Gender Diversity and Anne Mercogliano, Diversity Coordinator both of Heller Ehrman, will report on their firms’ “Opt-In Project” to address work/life balance among women.

C. Women’s Leadership Alliance    Emily Arnold-Fernandez  10 min
Emily Arnold-Fernandez of the Women’s Leadership Alliance (WLA) will present an update on the work of the WLA. 
Possible Action:  Approve next steps

D. Election of Officers for 2006-2007         President Shorter               5 min.
The Commission will vote to elect the President and Vice President of the Commission for 2005-2006.  At the July 28 Strategic Planning Retreat, Vice President Williams was nominated for President and Commissioner Munter was nominated for Vice President.
Action:  To elect the President and Vice President for 2006-2007.

This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for Commission’s future consideration.

Goodlett Place (San Francisco City Hall) and Grove Street.  In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based scented products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.
