Resource Committee Minutes

Meeting of January 14, 2003

C. Donnola, Department on the Status of Women, welcomed participants, outlined Resource Committee Goals and Objectives per Justice and Courage Oversight Panel; history regarding panel and development given.

Selection of Committee Chair, Co-Chair made by committee members. Sharon Woo, S.F. DA's Office, selected to be Chair. Kavitha Sreeharsha, Asian Pacific Legal Outreach, selected Co-Chair. A. Faro, S.F. APD to take minutes.

Future meeting schedules discussed, commitment made to meet one time per month for Committee. S. Woo to schedule meeting times and places and coordinate with Department on the Status of Women. Department on the Status of Women to serve as liaison to committees.

Sunshine Ordinance discussed. Question asked if Committee is under Sunshine Ordinance. Department on the Status of Women to check and will advise committee members of findings.

Discussions made regarding goals and objectives of committee. Open and honest discussions should be made during future meetings to allow the development of focused short term and long terms proposals. Discussion revolved to individual departmental

process and protocols in dealing with domestic violence cases. O. Sadler indicated that the Data Collection Committee has made a work flow chart and will share chart with committee members for the next meeting. Being aware of process will help Committee understand overall system. Resources proposals could center on gaps identified through this process. Issues such as staffing resources, training resources, and memorandum of understanding (MOU's) could also be developed if need identified.

Next meeting, members to bring the following material for discussion:

Current Departmental processes for Domestic Violence cases.

Identify staffing allocations.

Data elements gathered for processes.

Identify what would enhance current resources.

Regular Meeting scheduled for 2nd Tuesday of each month. The next meeting is February 11, 2003, 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M at the San Francisco Sheriff's Department at 120 14th (At Folsom).
