April 22, 2004, Agenda
The April 22, 2004, agenda was adopted.

Minutes
No minutes adopted. 3/18/04 and 1/20/04

There was a discussion around the Community Based organizations capacity to train. Committee members discussed the importance of community based organizations providing trainings vs. City Departments providing only in-house trainings. The Committee discussed the need for the community and the City departments to discuss gaps.  It was determined that a meeting should be set between the community and City agencies to discuss any potential gaps after an assessment is completed.

There was a discussion around what training looked like 10 years ago and the long-term losses.  The Committee stated that many of the discussions around loss of training focus on year to year and that an examination of long term loses would yield a bigger and more accurate picture.  This would be part of the discussion with community groups.

The Committee decided to hold two meetings. The first meeting will be a community based meeting with a small group to discuss what they are willing to do and what needs to be done.  After this meeting is conducted, the Committee will meet with Department heads to discuss.Possible group to have at the meeting: Several shelter agencies, legal services, CROC and Victim Witness.

Community based organizations cannot hold training for free.  It was also discussed that community based organizations can also augment current trainings provided.

There was a discussion around the possibly of forming joint partnership.

There was a discussion around San Francisco Police Department having full-time grant writers also, unlike many other departments.

There was a discussion about City Services such as SFGTV, Website, Link, Intranet Site on agencies, Employee side, public info and about notifying the public through this manner about domestic violence issues. FAQ’s would be helpful.
