III.    BUSINESS                                                                      DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION

 

A.  Justice & Courage Annual Strategic Plan                                       Commissioner Keehn

The Oversight Panel will review the draft Strategic Plan for 2008/2009, which was amended at the last meeting.

 

Materials:  Draft (II) of Justice & Courage Oversight Panel Strategic Plan 2008/2009.

 

B. Governance Committee                                                                     Commissioner Keehn

The Governance Committee will report on its efforts to identify of and outreach to potential new panel members for January 2009.

 

C.  Audit Implementation Committee                                                                 Ken Theisen

Ken Theisen will give a report on the Audit Implementation Committee.  The next meeting of the committee will not be at its regularly scheduled time/date of October 10, 2008, and will instead be on October 17, 2008 at 10am.  The location is 50 Fell Street, San Francisco, CA  94102.

 

D.  Batterer Accountability Committee                                                  Mary Cavanaugh

Staff will report on the work of the Batterer Accountability Committee.  The next meeting of the Committee is Friday, October 3, 2008 at 25 Van Ness Avenue, Suite 130.

                      

IV.     REPORTS                                                                      DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION

 

A.     JUS.T.I.S.                                                                                                      Jill Tregor

Staff will discuss the status of the JUS.T.I.S Project, and a related meeting held between Dr. Murase, Jill Tregor, and Judge Ryan of the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice.

 

B.     Family Violence Council                                                                               Beverly Upton

Beverly Upton will update the Panel on the Family Violence Council.  The next meeting of the Council is Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 3-4:30 pm.  The location is 400 McAllister (at Polk), 5th Floor Conference Room.

                                                                                   

C.     Stalking Task Force                                                                                     Jill Tregor

Jill Tregor will provide an update on the District Attorney’s Stalking Task Force.  The Stalking Task Force will discuss the recommendations of the Safety and Accountability Audit at its next meeting, which is not yet scheduled.

 

D.     Domestic Violence Awareness Month                                                        Murase/Upton

The Oversight Panel will hear about activities scheduled for the month of October.

 

E.     Current Domestic Violence Cases/Trials                                                    Beverly Upton

Beverly Upton will provide an update to the Oversight Panel about any current domestic violence cases that require attention or support.

The next meeting of the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel is Wednesday, December 3, 2008, from 9am-Noon at City Hall, Room #408, San Francisco, CA  94102.

 

American Sign Language interpreters and a Sound Amplification System provided upon request with 48-hour advance notice to 415-252-2570. Translation into languages other than English is also available with 48-hour notice. Limited accessible street parking available.  Accessible MUNI Metro station in the Powell and lines are J, K, L, M and N.  Accessible MUNI Lines are the 30 and 45.   Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available.  Meeting proceedings available in alternative formats.  In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.  To obtain a disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meeting, please contact the Department on the Status of Women at least two business days before the meeting at 415-252-2570 (Voice) or 415-252-2550 (TTD).  The Board of Supervisors has amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding provision 67A.1.  The provision is effective as of January 21, 2001.

The ringing of and use of cell phones, pagers, and similar sound producing electronic devices are prohibited at this meeting.  Please be advised that the Chair may order the removal from the meeting room of any person(s) responsible for the ringing or use of a cell phone, pager or other similar sound-producing electronic devices.
