  • Domestic Violence Response Cross-Training Institute                 Dr. Emily Murase

Dr. Murase & staff will provide an update on the Domestic Violence Response Cross-Training Institute.  The trainings for Year 1 are complete.  An overview of Year 1 and information about Year 2 will be given.  A copy of the evaluator’s interim report on the Cross-Training Institute may be downloaded Here.

B.  Governance Committee                                                         Commissioner Dorka Keehn

Commissioner Dorka Keehn will give a report on the activities of the Governance Committee.

 

Action:  Approve the recommendations of the Governance Committee regarding new members of the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel.  The Governance Committee recommends the following new members:  Kathy Black, Executive Director of La Casa de las Madres; Dr. Mary Cavanaugh, a professor at UC Berkeley who’s research focuses on batterers, and Allyson Hauck, an attorney in private practice with extensive community experience in the domestic violence field.

 

Action:  To approve the recommendation of the Governance Committee regarding the seat filled by Dr. Emily Murase.  The Committee recommends that Dr. Murase become an alternate member of the panel, who will vote only when a regular member is absent.  ]

Jill Tregor will update the Panel about the Mobile Language Access Initiative, sponsored by the Office of the City Administrator and the Office of Language Access; and related activities.

Jill Tregor, staff, will discuss the status of JUS.T.I.S Project.

  • Family Violence Council                                                                               Beverly Upton

Beverly Upton will update the Panel on the Family Violence Council.  The next meeting of the Council is April 17, from 3-5 pm.  The location is 400 McAllister, 5th Floor.

 

  • Citywide Violence Prevention Planning Initiative                           Dr. Emily Murase

      Dr. Murase will provide a brief update on the San Francisco Violence Prevention Planning Initiative being facilitated by the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice.

 

E.   Update on the trial of Tari Ramirez                                                            Beverly Upton

      Beverly Upton will provide an update on the criminal court proceedings for the trial of Claire

      Joyce Tempongko’s accused murderer.

 

  • NEW BUSINESS

A. Legislative Information

Jill Tregor will report on domestic violence related legislation and issues received from the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence.                                               Jill Tregor

 

B.  2007 MFAC Public Managerial Excellence Awards                             Dr. Emily Murase

Dr. Murase will report on the nomination of city employees who were members of the Safety Audit Team to receive an award from the Municipal Fiscal Advisory Committee.  A ceremony honoring all nominees will be held at City Hall on February 25, 2008, from 5:30-8pm.  To attend, tickets may be purchased at www.mfac.org.

American Sign Language interpreters and a Sound Amplification System provided upon request with 48-hour advance notice to 415-252-2570. Translation into languages other than English is also available with 48-hour notice. Limited accessible street parking available.  Accessible MUNI Metro station in the Powell and lines are J, K, L, M and N.  Accessible MUNI Lines are the 30 and 45.   Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available.  Meeting proceedings available in alternative formats.  In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.  To obtain a disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meeting, please contact the Department on the Status of Women at least two business days before the meeting at 415-252-2570 (Voice) or 415-252-2550 (TTD).  The Board of Supervisors has amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding provision 67A.1.  The provision is effective as of January 21, 2001.
