Materials: Minutes from the February 6, 2008 meeting of the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel. 
        

III. BUSINESS      DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION


A. Domestic Violence Response Cross-Training Institute  Dr. Emily Murase
Dr. Murase & staff will provide an update on the Domestic Violence Response Cross-Training Institute.  The first two training sessions of Year 2 have been completed.

B.  Governance Committee        Staff
The Governance Committee is scheduled to hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 10am.  The location of the meeting is 25 Van Ness Avenue, 8th Floor conference room, San Francisco, CA  94102.  Discussion will focus on outreach to potential new Panel members for 2009.

C.  Media Committee      Ken Theisen/Marily Mondejar
There is no meeting of the Media Committee scheduled at this time.

D.  Audit Implementation Committee      Ken Theisen
Ken Theisen will give a report on the Audit Implementation Committee.  The next meeting of the committee will be on April 11, 2008, at 10am.  The location is 50 Fell Street, San Francisco, CA  94102.

E.  Orientation of New Justice & Courage Oversight Panel Members Commissioner Keehn
Commissioner Keehn will provide information to the Panel about the orientation of new Panel members that occurred on March 17, 2008.
  
IV. REPORTS      DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION

A. JUS.T.I.S.         Jill Tregor
Staff, will discuss the status of the JUS.T.I.S Project.
Materials:  Approved Minutes from the JUS.T.I.S. Governance Council for January 31, 2008.

B. Family Violence Council       Beverly Upton
Beverly Upton will update the Panel on the Family Violence Council.  The next meeting of the Council is April 17, from 3-5 pm.  The location is 400 McAllister, 6th Floor.

C. Update on the trial of Tari Ramirez     Beverly Upton
 Beverly Upton will provide an update on the criminal court proceedings for the trial of Claire
 Joyce Tempongko’s accused murderer.

D.  Stalking Task Force        Marily Mondejar
 Marily Mondejar will provide information for the Panel about the District Attorney’s reinvigorated Stalking Task Force.

V. NEW BUSINESS

A.  Batterer Intervention       Commissioner Keehn
The Oversight Panel will discuss the approach it would like to take to addressing the challenges of intervening with men who batter.  Establishment of a working committee will be considered.

B.  Re-establishment of Oversight Panel Resources Committee Commissioner Keehn
The Oversight Panel previously had an active Resources Committee to ensure that the work of the Panel could be ongoing.  The Oversight Panel will discuss the possibility of restarting this committee, in order to investigate sources of financial support for the Panel’s work.

C.  Strategic Planning Retreat      Commissioner Keehn
The Oversight Panel meets annually in a retreat to review its strategic plan and identify short and long term priorities.  The Panel will identify a date for the retreat and discuss topics they would like to have on the agenda.

The next meeting of the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel is Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from 9am-Noon at City Hall, Room #408, San Francisco, CA  94102.

American Sign Language interpreters and a Sound Amplification System provided upon request with 48-hour advance notice to 415-252-2570. Translation into languages other than English is also available with 48-hour notice. Limited accessible street parking available.  Accessible MUNI Metro station in the Powell and lines are J, K, L, M and N.  Accessible MUNI Lines are the 30 and 45.   Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available.  Meeting proceedings available in alternative formats.  In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.  To obtain a disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meeting, please contact the Department on the Status of Women at least two business days before the meeting at 415-252-2570 (Voice) or 415-252-2550 (TTD).  The Board of Supervisors has amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding provision 67A.1.  The provision is effective as of January 21, 2001.
