A.     Domestic Violence Response Cross-Training Institute                 Ms. Laura Marshall

Laura Marshall, Administrative Analyst for the Department on the Status of Women, will provide a report on the Cross-Training Institute.

B.  Governance Committee                                                                                             Staff

Staff will report on the Governance Committee meeting of April 22, 2008.  Identification and recruitment of Oversight Panel members were the topics of discussion.  The Committee will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.

C.  Media Committee                                                                  Ken Theisen/Marily Mondejar

Mr. Theisen and Ms. Mondejar will report on the Media Committee meeting of April 23, 2008.  The Committee will hold its next meeting by phone on Wednesday, July 2, at 2:30pm.

D.  Audit Implementation Committee                                                                 Ken Theisen

Ken Theisen will give a report on the Audit Implementation Committee meeting of May 9, 2008.  The next meeting of the committee will be June 13, 2008, at 10am.  The location is 50 Fell Street, San Francisco, CA  94102.

E. Batterer Accountability Committee                                                               Staff

This is a newly established committee, which will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 2:00pm-3:30pm.  The meeting will be at 25 Van Ness Avenue, 8th Floor Conference Room.

 

F. Re-establishment of Oversight Panel Resources Committee          Commissioner Keehn

The Oversight Panel will schedule a meeting of the Resources Committee.

                                   

IV.     REPORTS                                                                      DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION

 

A.     Quarterly Meeting with the San Francisco Police Department     Ms. Beverly Upton

Ms. Upton will report on the meeting with Deputy Chief David Shinn, held on April 16, 2008.  Chief Fong was unable to attend, due to City Budget meetings.

                      

B.     Quarterly Meeting with 9-1-1                                              Alyson Hauck/Dr. Murase

Ms. Hauck and Dr. Murase will report on the meeting with Acting Chief of the Department of Emergency Management, Vickie Hennessy on April 22, 2008.

 

C.     JUS.T.I.S.                                                                                                                  Staff

Staff, will discuss the status of the JUS.T.I.S Project and its meeting of May 1, 2008.

D.     Family Violence Council                                                                               Beverly Upton

Beverly Upton will report on the April 17, 2008 meeting of the Family Violence Council.

 E. Strategic Planning Retreat                                                                Commissioner Keehn

The Strategic Planning Retreat is scheduled for July 16, 2008, from 10am-4pm.  The location is still to be determined.  The Oversight panel will designate members to participate in planning the retreat.

 

V.        NEW BUSINESS

 

A. CA Commission on the Status of Women Hearing                                       Dr. Murase

On Thursday, June 19, 2008 the CA Commission on the Status of Women will hold a regional hearing at the Milton Marks Conference Center at the State Building, 455 Golden Gate Avenue.  The Oversight Panel will discuss its interest in making a presentation to the CA Commission.

The next meeting of the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel is Wednesday, July 16, 2008 for a Strategic Planning Retreat.  Location will be determined.

 

American Sign Language interpreters and a Sound Amplification System provided upon request with 48-hour advance notice to 415-252-2570. Translation into languages other than English is also available with 48-hour notice. Limited accessible street parking available.  Accessible MUNI Metro station in the Powell and lines are J, K, L, M and N.  Accessible MUNI Lines are the 30 and 45.   Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available.  Meeting proceedings available in alternative formats.  In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.  To obtain a disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meeting, please contact the Department on the Status of Women at least two business days before the meeting at 415-252-2570 (Voice) or 415-252-2550 (TTD).  The Board of Supervisors has amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding provision 67A.1.  The provision is effective as of January 21, 2001.

The ringing of and use of cell phones, pagers, and similar sound producing electronic devices are prohibited at this meeting.  Please be advised that the Chair may order the removal from the meeting room of any person(s) responsible for the ringing or use of a cell phone, pager or other similar sound-producing electronic devices.
