      Violence Response Unit (DVRU) – Letter to Chief Fong

Ms. Reddi will update the Panel on the letter to Chief Fong outlining basic space requirements for the DVRU.

B.     Status of Media Subcommittee                                        Commissioner Dorka Keehn3 min.

Commissioner Keehn will update the Panel on the status of the Justice & Courage Project Media Subcommittee that is to be newly formed, and will also discuss the two recent articles published by two members of the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel.

C.     Filipina Advisory Group Update                                                  Ken Theisen               2 min.

Ken Theisen will discuss when the next Filipina Advisory Group meeting is, as well as what is on the agenda for the meeting.

 

D.     Meeting with Presiding Judge Robert Dondero                         Jill Tregor                   10 min.

Ms. Tregor will discuss the meeting that Oversight Panel members had with Presiding Judge Dondero.

 

E.     Potential Oversight Panel Member                                 Commissioner Dorka Keehn 5 min.

Commissioner Keehn will ask Panel members to decide on the nomination of Tulin Acikalin to the Oversight Panel.

 

Action: Approve Tulin Acikalin to the Justice & Courage Oversight Panel.

 

F.      Justice & Courage Project Retreat                                 Commissioner Dorka Keehn 5 min.

Commissioner Keehn will update the Panel on the upcoming retreat and possible agenda items.

Elizabeth Aguilar-Tarchi, Res. 2005-030: Resolution recognizing the contributions of Elizabeth-Aguilar-Tarchi to the lives of domestic violence victims and survivors in San Francisco .

 

B.     Claire Joyce Tempongko Memorial                                            Ken Theisen               5 min.

Mr. Theisen will discuss the possibility of coordinating an event in memory of Ms. Tempongko with the Filipina Advisory Group.

 

C.   Oversight Panel Meeting                                                                        Aparna Reddi              5 min.  

and Domestic Violence Month  

Ms. Reddi will discuss the possibility of holding the next Justice & Courage Project Oversight Panel meeting in a community meeting space during the month of October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

A.     Protocols Committee Update                                           Trish Erwin and Sally Pina      20 min.

 

1.    Felony Motions to Revoke                                                        

Ms. Erwin and Ms. Pina will update the Panel on a study conducted by Ashianna Esmail about the number of felony motions to revoke during each Friday of July 2005.

2.    Bench Warrant Statistics                                    

Ms. Erwin and Ms. Pina will update the Panel on a study conducted by Ashianna Esmail about the number of bench warrants issued in felony domestic violence cases over a 3-week period.

3.    Recommendations from Justice and Courage: A Blueprint for San Francisco ’s

  Response to Domestic Violence

Ms. Erwin and Ms. Pina will update the Panel on what is being done to obtain information about the status of implementing recommendations for the Blueprint.

 

B.     Resources Committee Update                                                     Beverly Upton                        10 min.

 

1.    Domestic Violence Cross Training Institute - Letter of Inquiry

Ms. Upton will discuss the Letter of Inquiry that is being drafted to the Blue Cross Foundation of California to fund a Domestic Violence Cross Training Institute.

 

C.     JUSTIS Portal Demonstration                                         Commissioner Dorka Keehn 5 min.

Commissioner Keehn will update the Panel on the JUSTIS portal demonstration.

 

V.        PUBLIC COMMENT                                                                DISCUSSION             5 min.

This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Committee’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for future consideration.

American Sign Language interpreters and a Sound Amplification System provided upon request with 48-hour advance notice to 415-252-2570. Translation into languages other than English is also available with 48-hour notice. Limited accessible street parking available.  Accessible MUNI Metro station in the Powell and lines are J, K, L, M and N.  Accessible MUNI Lines are the 30 and 45.   Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available.  Meeting proceedings available in alternative formats.  In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products.  Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.  To obtain a disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meeting, please contact the Department on the Status of Women at least two business days before the meeting at 415-252-2570 (Voice) or 415-252-2550 (TTD).  The Board of Supervisors has amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding provision 67A.1.  The provision is effective as of January 21, 2001 .
