Breanna Zwart

President

Breanna Zwart is a lifelong advocate for women and girls, acting as a champion for policy change in the areas of education and community and economic development. She serves as an Associate Principal at YouTube Social Impact, where she develops partnerships with NGOs, and supports human rights defenders and influencers around the world to amplify their social impact through digital storytelling. Ms. Zwart began her career at Google on the Global Public Policy team and previously worked on Google’s Next Billion Users initiative, brokering deals to build high-speed internet infrastructure in emerging markets.

Prior to joining the tech sector, Ms. Zwart was a Presidential appointee during the Obama administration at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she managed the gender and multilateral financial institutions portfolios and advised Secretaries Geithner and Lew on related policy issues. Ms. Zwart has served on the board of the Elementary Institute of Science, the San Diego New Leaders Council, and is a past member of Hermanitas, HerStory, and former co-director of Strong Women, Strong Girls.

Ms. Zwart holds a Master’s of Science degree in Public Policy and Management, and a Bachelor’s in Arts and Humanities, International Relations and Drama with a Minor in Hispanic Studies, both from Carnegie Mellon University.

Shokooh Miry

Vice President

Dr. Shokooh Miry is a psychologist in practice in San Francisco. Dr. Miry attended UC Berkeley and Stanford University. She was honored to complete her training at the Stanford Hospital Department of Psychiatry. In 2008, she completed a fellowship in medical psychology at Duke University Medical Center. In 2010, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford Hospital. While in graduate school, she worked at Planned Parenthood with pregnant and at-risk teen girls and completed additional training in trauma treatment at the VA National Center for PTSD. Dr. Miry specializes in evidence-based treatment, and has extensive research and clinical experience working with mood, anxiety, trauma, and eating disturbances as well as women’s mental health.

In addition to serving on the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, Dr. Miry has served on the board of directors of several high-impact, non-profit organizations. She is past Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Iranian American Council, the largest grassroots organization in her community focused on issues of discrimination and the advancement of peace. She served as President of the Board of Directors of Lone Mountain Children’s Center. She continues to serve on the Board of NIAC Action, an organization dedicated to helping Americans of Iranian descent build political power utilizing grassroots advocacy and engaging lawmakers and political candidates.

Dr. Miry is a proud immigrant who moved from Iran to San Francisco at the age of one with her parents.

Sophia Andary
Commissioner

Sophia Andary is a first-generation Lebanese-American activist, organizer, and analyst. Her experience living through the civil war in Lebanon during early childhood shaped her worldview and passion for bridging the divide among diverse perspectives. She is one of the founding members of Women’s March San Francisco and was unanimously voted to chair the organization following its inaugural launch and has remained co-chair since then. Through leading by example, she has helped build one of the strongest and most diverse Women’s March chapters in the country, building alliance with and earning respect from various San Francisco communities through local partnerships, programming, events and actions.

Ms. Andary is a past board member of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club. She has received an Achievement Award from the San Francisco Women’s Political Committee, Certificate of Honor from the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco, the Community Public Service Award from Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club, and a certificate of honor from Mayor London Breed in recognition of her (and Women’s March San Francisco) efforts to register women to vote and make San Francisco a more equitable place. 

Her B.A. in International Business and French has served her in the corporate world. Through her community work and career path, Ms. Andary helps bring the voices of marginalized, queer, and women of color to the front. 

Raveena Rihal MD

Commissioner

Dr. Raveena Rihal is a Sikh American woman who has called San Francisco home since 2009. She is a physician trained in internal medicine, who has previously worked in hospital medicine and telemedicine. After Trump's victory in 2016, she co-founded Post March Salon, a women's social-political activism group that has met monthly since the 2017 women's march in an effort to sustain activism, educate, and engage in service. The organization has since grown nationally. Dr. Rihal also holds a leadership position at her children's school, running and executing an initiative to engage the community around homelessness and poverty in San Francisco, in an effort to educate, build empathy, and take action. She has organized successful fundraisers and voter registration drives as well, helping flip CA-10 blue in 2018. She is mother to two humans, aged 4 and 8, who keep her running, playing, and wrestling. She loves to cook, host, and create community.

Sharon Chung

Commissioner

Sharon Chung currently works as the lead administrator supporting the Director of Families, Children and the Courts at the Judicial Council of California, and she oversees the CFCC Project Portfolio and programming for all 58 county courts. The Judicial Council of California is the policymaking institution for the statewide court system.

From her previous experiences supervising outreach and public engagement on behalf of San Francisco public agencies and working on political campaigns and city projects, Ms. Chung understands the unique characteristics and needs of San Francisco communities and has a passion for furthering gender equity, language access, and social justice. In her spare time, you can find her phone banking for local races, reading feminist novels, training for her next pageant, or taking photos of pop-up art sensations.

Anne Moses

Commissioner

Dr. Anne Moses has 20+ years of experience in social justice and political organizations across the nonprofit, political, philanthropic, government, and academic sectors with a focus on women and girls. In 2010, Anne founded IGNITE, a nationally recognized 501c3 that is building a movement of women who are ready and eager to become the next generation of political leaders. IGNITE has grown quickly to become the largest and most diverse young women’s political leadership program in the United States, training 10,000+ young women a year across 30 states.

Dr. Moses' previous senior leadership positions as Chief Operating Officer for Emerge America, Majority Council Director for EMILY’s List, and Executive Director of GirlSource, all informed her passion and expertise in the arena of gender parity in political leadership. Throughout her career Anne has worked as an independent consultant in the non-profit sector, with philanthropic and nonprofit organizations across the environmental, veteran’s affairs, domestic violence, and health and human service sectors. She is also a skilled researcher, having served as Principal Investigator on federal, state, and local evaluations regarding the effectiveness and impact of welfare reform, California’s Child Health Insurance Program, and General Assistance on low-income individuals and communities and working with federal, state, and local agencies to implement recommended policies resulting from evaluation findings.

Dr. Moses holds a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley, an MSW from New York University, and a B.A. from Middlebury College. She lives in San Francisco with her family. Dr. Moses is also an adjunct faculty at Mills College, where she teaches in the Public Policy department.
