The San Francisco Domestic Violence Consortium, the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women, and city leaders will kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Monday, October 1, 2018.

In California, approximately 40% of women experience physical violence from an intimate partner over their lifetime. In San Francisco, community-based organizations served over 23,000 individuals experiencing domestic violence in Fiscal Year 2017 and 911 received 7,980 calls for assistance in domestic violence cases.  City officials and community members will gather at City Hall to demonstrate that domestic violence will not be ignored, that the personal is political, and that we must Vote Against Violence by supporting elected officials who take stands against intimate partner violence. City Hall will be lit up purple, the color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
