Can’t afford to pay your Muni fare evasion ticket?

Muni fare evasion logoYou have options to get a discount on or dismissal of your Muni fare evasion ticket(s) if you have a low income or are experiencing homelessness. You may be able to:

1. Dismiss fare evasion tickets if you are experiencing homelessness in San Francisco, OR
2. Dismiss ONE fare evasion ticket by signing up for certain Free Muni programs or the Lifeline Pass, OR
3. Sign up for a low-income payment plan or perform community service 
to pay off your tickets

Step 1: Determine if you are eligible

You may be eligible to dismiss ALL prior fare evasion tickets or apply to dismiss fare evasion tickets if:

1. You are experiencing homelessness in San Francisco, AND
2. You have worked with a Coordinated Entry Access Point in the last 6 months.

Please call or visit a Coordinated Entry Access Point to confirm your eligibility.  The Coordinated Entry Access Points and their hours can be found here: tinyURL.com/CEAccessPoints

Step 2: Apply for a discount

You can dismiss all prior fare evasion tickets by signing up for the Access Pass Program, the Free Muni program for people experiencing homelessness. Please provide a citation or ID number from your citation when you apply for these programs.  Learn how to sign up for the Access Pass in the “Can’t afford to ride Muni?” section.

You can also apply to dismiss fare evasion tickets if you are experiencing homelessness. You can apply online, in-person, or by mail. You can access the application at: sfmta.com/citation-waiver-people-experiencing-homelessness

If you sign up for one of SFMTA’s Free Muni programs or the Lifeline Pass, you can dismiss the last fare evasion ticket received in the past 30 days. Please provide a ticket or ID number from your ticket when you apply for these programs.
