    RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco does hereby approve the appended September 26, 2000 Report of the Acquisitions Committee of The Fine Arts Museums Foundation, accept

the works of art acquired through purchase, donation and bequest as gifts from The Fine Arts Museums Foundation, approve the Guidelines for the Transfer of Historical Works to the City’s History Museum, and approve the works of art recommended for first and second step deaccessioning.

B. Consideration and Possible Action to Adopt a Resolution Acknowledging Funding Expended by the Corporation of The Fine Arts Museums During the Period April 1 through June 30, 2000

    WHEREAS, The Corporation of The Fine Arts Museums is a 501(c)(3)

not-for-profit corporation that exists solely to support the activities of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and has a partial reimbursement contract with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; now, therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco does hereby acknowledge with gratitude funding in the amount of $5,861,008 expended by the Corporation of The Fine Arts Museums during the period April 1 through June 30, 2000.

C. Consideration and Possible Action to Adopt a Resolution Acknowledging Bequests Received by the Fine Arts Museums of

    San Francisco for the Period January 1 through June 30, 2000

    RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco does hereby acknowledge with gratitude the following bequests received during the period January 1 through June 30, 2000:

    Estate of Arthur Foulds - $492,230

    Estate of Francis S. Goldsmith - $300,000

    The Katharine Hanrahan Living Trust - $3.8 million

    The Elaine Henderson Trust - $45,000

    Effiellen Jeffries Charitable Remainder Trust - $71,238

    Dorothy Spreckels Munn Interest in the Fine Arts Museums Pooled

    Income Fund - $405,643

D. Report on de Young Museum Activities during Period of Closure

E. Consideration and Possible Action to Adopt a Resolution to Waive the Admission Fee at the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum From December 26 Through December 31, 2000 Prior to the Closure of the Museum to the Public on January 1, 2001

              WHEREAS, At its January 13, 2000 meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Museums adopted Board Resolution 1331 authorizing the closure of the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum to the public on January 1, 2001 in order for it to be vacated, so that hazardous material can be removed, followed by an anticipated construction project; and,

              WHEREAS, Since 1895, the de Young Museum has been deeply committed to its mission of art education and has become a premier center for visual arts in the western United States with collections representing a broad range of world cultures with major strengths in the American and Textile arts and the art of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; now, therefore, be it

              RESOLVED, That in recognition of the great sentiment held by the citizens of San Francisco and the Bay Area for the de Young Museum, the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Museums does hereby authorize the admission fee to the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum to be waived from December 26 through December 31, 2000 in an effort to make the de Young Museum as accessible as possible to the public prior to its closure on January 1, 2001.

Public Comment

Members of the public may address the Board of Trustees on items not on the agenda that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Speakers may address the Board for up to three minutes; the President or the Board of Trustees may limit the total comment to thirty minutes.

Action

Public Meeting Requirements Relating to Accessibility

The subsequent information is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); the following will be made available upon request: (1) American sign language interpreters; (2) a sound enhancement system; (3) a meeting agenda available in alternative formats; and (4) a reader during the meeting. In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illnesses, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, those attending public meetings are reminded that others may be sensitive to various chemical based products. Please help the City to accommodate these individuals.

The MUNI’s wheelchair-accessible No. 44 line (south bound) stops in front of the de Young Museum. The No. 44 line (north bound) stops in front of the Academy of Sciences. For access to the de Young Museum by BART from the East Bay, get off at the New Montgomery Station. Take MUNI’s No. 38 line (Geary) to 6th Avenue and transfer to the No. 44 line (O’Shaughnessy). For access to the de Young Museum by BART from Daly City, get off at the Civic Center Station. Take MUNI’s No. 71 line (outbound) and transfer at 6th Avenue at Lincoln Way to the No. 44 line (O’Shaughnessy). There is accessible parking spaces (disabled-designated) available at the following locations: a) the de Young Museum parking lot (driveway access at 10th Avenue and Kennedy Drive); and b) the Music Concourse area, east end (access from Tea Garden Drive).

Accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs) will be available. For Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD), the Museums use the California Relay Service.

Know Your Rights Under the Sunshine Ordinance

Government’s duty is to serve the public, reaching its decisions in full view of the public. Commissions, boards, councils, and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people’s business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people’s review. For more information on your rights under the Sunshine Ordinance (Chapter 67 of the San Francisco Administrative Code) or to report a violation of the ordinance, contact the Sunshine Ordinance Task Force:
