Annual Report 2020

It is with great respect and appreciation to the staff of the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department (JPD)—and to the youth and families we serve, our network of community-based providers, and our government partners—that we present the Juvenile Probation Department’s 2020 Annual Report. This year, we have taken the opportunity to revisit the content and format of the Annual Report to provide additional context regarding the work of our department.

We are excited to welcome back families for in-person visitation and community partners for in-person programming into San Francisco’s Juvenile Hall, with adherence to current CDC guidelines. For in person visits, please contact your child’s probation officer. For community programs please contact JPD to complete necessary paperwork and training for your staff.

A Big Thank You

Big thank you to John Knox, Employment Specialist at JPD, and City Youth Now who, despite pandemic restrictions, were able to execute innovative strategies to work with young people and their families. Down below are a few highlights of this collaborative programming:
  • City Youth Now and Employment Specialist John Knox took nearly 40 students on two virtual college tours, visiting SF City College, Sac State, San Jose State, Humboldt State, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and UCLA!
  • Employment Specialist Mr. John Knox hosted three Family Paint Nights during the pandemic, mailing out supplies to more than 20 families and engaging young people in Juvenile Hall in this fun activity that provided an opportunity for family connection and fun!
